First Easter with Elise and let me tell you she was so excited that she pooped her pants a few times. Here are a few pictures from the past few days. It's been pretty low key here at the Robbie house and I am finally getting caught up with the honey do tasks that were put on hold for the past few weeks. Elise and Amanda enjoyed some walks outside during the beautiful weekend we had here and Amanda is working on finding some sleep but it seems Elise likes the late night drive thru quite frequently during the night.
Hope everyone out there had a great Easter!

Elise 2 weeks old
Elise has been home for three days and two nights now and so far so good. The first night Elise partied like a rockstar until 3:30am but by night 2 she seemed to be worn out and was only up a few times to get her food before crashing out again. Days have been filled with sleep and usually an appointment with one of the nurses/doctors/therapists that have been assigned to Elise. Being premature means she gets a good amount of attention from the medical community. It also means mom and dad are given a ton of pamphlets and reading materials. Elise was weighed today and hit 4 lbs 11oz. Really packing it on she is. Here are a couple pics from the last two days.

Elise Day 13 - Mama I'm coming home!
Don't think I really have to say too much about how happy we are today to have Elise home with us so I will keep this simple and just say Elise had a great day. Here are the pictures.

Elise Day 12 - Tis the night before Christmas!
Quick update tonight and only one picture as we didn't have our main camera with us today. I know, terrible planning. We'll do better tomorrow!
Elise had a great night last night with mom in the hospital and she is ready to come home. Monday can't get here fast enough. All wires, tubes, monitoring devices have been removed and she gained another ounce today! Mom and Dad are busy getting the house ready for tomorrow. Car seat went in today. Co-sleeper was set up today. Clothes, diapers and all other baby items are washed and ready to go. Swings and seats are set up. Now we just need our baby girl home!
Come back for tomorrow's post. It will be a big one! Oh yeah, and here is a poem or a parody or something... yeah not sure what. Started down a road and this is where it took me. I thought I would share since I am only giving you one pic. I can't wait for Eliseto turn 13, realize this is on the internet and say "Geez dad, you are so embarrasing."
Tis the night before Elise comes home, and all through the house,
Mom and dad are preparing, while the cats eat a cockroach mouse.
The co-sleeper was set by the bed with care,
In hopes that Elise soon would be there.
Elise is nestled in her hospital bed,
With visions of mom and dad’s house dancing in her head.
And mamma with her vacuum, and I with my mop,
Have just cleaned the house to make sure it’s tip top.
Tomorrow when the alarm rings we will arise so very glad,
For the wonderful nurses we are so lucky to have had.
Away down the street we will dart before we eat,
And hope Elise is content in her car seat.
I absolutely can't wait to bring home our daughter,
I’ve looked at the weather let’s hope it gets hotter.
Tomorrow from out of the hospital will appear,
Elise being released, and mom and dad near.
The days have flown by so lively and quick,
From the first time mom felt our Elise kick .
More rapid than her labour which so early came,
And we needed March Madness to help pick a name!
Grace or Nora or Anne or Cecilia
Or Margaret or Amber or Greta or Amelia?
What name fits best? March Madness can’t be wrong!
The winner is Elise, it’s from a Beethoven song
Born in Bermuda where wild hurricanes fly,
You came to us on a day with blue sky.
Now we finally bring you home to be with us
And it will never matter to me how much you fuss.
You weren’t chubby or plump, but a still a jolly girl,
“Put some meat on those bones" will say you’re Nana Shirl!
A wink of your eye and a twist of you head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
You speak not a word, but your smiles say it all,
You are excited and happy and we will have a ball.
And you love to put your fingers all over your face,
Please don’t grow up too quick, life isn’t a race!
But when you are older I’ll remember these days,
When I held you tight and talked about the Jays.
You may be too young and may have many queries ,
But me and your uncles all hope the Jays win the World Series.
But I digress, this is not about the Jays in blue
This is about the night before the hospital discharged you.
We have a bundle of Toys and cloth diapers to spare,
And you are Habs fan, cheer for the Leafs don’t dare.
I wouldn’t have changed one bit of your story,
And one day I will teach you to make chicken cacciatore.
The last few weeks have been a little bit of chaos,
Now at home, please listen to your mom, she’s the boss.
We know days will fly by and pretty soon you will walk,
And we can’t wait for the days when you start to talk.
But for now we will enjoy and be sure to love,
For you are of us and all we think of.
So tomorrow we’ll wake up and spring to our car,
And drive to the hospital, it’s not very far.
In the future we’ll try but may not know what to do,
But please always know, we will love you.

Elise Day 11 - Mom and Elise sleepover
Day 11 was jam packed with excitement. Dad and Mom were given a CPR briefing in the morning which was followed by Elise's car seat test. Basically this test involved Elise sitting in a car seat, in the NICU not a car, for an hour. She really focused and honed in on the task and she passed with flying colours. Harvard here we come. Side note; Grandparents can you pay for Elise's Harvard tuition? Thank you.
Elise was taken off all the monitors today, she pretty much ripped off the wires herself Incredible Hulk style. However the real big news from Day 11 is that tonight the wonderful hospital staff gave Elise and Amanda their own hospital room so Amanda can feed through the night which we haven't been able to do since Amanda checked out last weekend. Why did they do this you ask? Because ELISE IS COMING HOME ON MONDAY!!!! We couldn't be happier. Here are some shots from today. Can't wait to get Elise home!

Elise Day 10 - Take this tube out I say!
"Feeding tube, shmeeding tube. I don't need this anymore." Elise proclaimed as she extracted her own feeding tube today. Ok so Elise didn't actually speak and she only got the tube out a few inches on her own but that was enough for our wonderful nurse to give in and take out the remainder of the tube. Great news and another big step to bringing our baby girl home. Apart from that excitement Elise had another great day with mom and Elise was even given a baby massage by the occupational therapist. Again, she is living the dream. Eat, sleep, massage. Sign me up.
